When I first started formulating what I wanted AMcE to be, it was essential that the vision and ethos align with my passion for art and supporting artists and with my deep desire to foster human connection. Since I was new to the city and a complete unknown, I was free of any obligations to and preconceived ideas of what my space would, could, and should offer. I was able to construct a model free and clear and infuse my soul into what I was creating.

Along with my 20+ years in the Los Angeles art scene, I had a concurrent background of event producing, including cultural events, large-scale concerts with KCRW and intimate shows with up-and-coming musicians, kids’ event (my favorites), community and social engagement projects with artist groups such as Fallen Fruit. The drive behind each event was human connection – bringing people together for a positive shared experience.

There is a lovely NYT article on “collective effervescence” penned during the pandemic that underscores the power and importance of shared human moments. Large or small, I find this collective ripple effect one of life’s most magical opportunities.

Art is also an essential element of a positive shared experience. It connects our humanity and speaks up when words alone fail. It can show us that we are not alone in our toiling away on this mortal coil and can provide an alternative perspective in how to navigate our journeys here.  It can also spark joy. And at times, a good giggle.

My goal with AMcE was to creative an environment that embodied the best of all the above. A place that artists and the public alike felt connected. I wanted to create a space that felt alive.

So, it is my great delight to be included in a recent Seattle Times article about local galleries adding events to their program. Not the anticipated talks and performances, but more of the surprise and delight ilk. I am proud to be among my wonderful peers in creating a space for shared experiences.

You can read the article here.

My events kick off in April with a pom workshop lead by the dynamite Maija Fiebig followed by an artisan market in May. I post all event info on the website’s News & Events.
