Aimee Hagedorn

Aimee’s hand-stitched creations use an assortment of found fabrics, upcycled clothing, and other repurposed textiles. Her freehand mix of traditional embroidery and boro style stitching, an ancient Japanese mending technique.

In 2023 Aimee was designated as an Artisan for Italian thread maker Aurifil. Her work has also featured in the Seattle-based Orcas Paley art show titled Vide Poche, where she designed and hand stitched unique pockets from upcycled denim.

Most recently Aimee conceived and led a community-driven art project for the Nelson Atkins Museum, Kansas City, MO, which featured artwork and performances from local artists. Guests of the museum were invited to answer the question “How is Your Heart?” by stitching on one of 48 embroidery hoops on display. The result was a magical collection of unique embroidered works that hopefully mended a few hearts.
