Andrew creates fictional interiors exploring themes of obsession, consumerism, and excessiveness, The results are maximalist, busy, bold, colorful paintings. He received his BFA from Harrington Institute in Chicago. Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Andrew currently lives and works in Seattle.

“I had primarily worked in oil pastel and charcoal before rekindling my relationship with paint. Having a background in design, I wanted to create interiors that didn’t have any restrictions or prescribed format. The imagined interiors both reflect the personality of the fictional collectors and the aesthetic persona they wish to emulate.

I drew a lot of inspiration from having poured over magazine images of the fabulously cluttered New York City apartments that were teeming with individualized collections – books, plants, objects, and art. I loved that in the seeming chaos of everything everywhere, salon style, stacked, and piled, there was a clear throughline that spoke to and celebrated the unique personality and proclivities of the collector. I am also a collector of things, and this obsessive drive is something I take pleasure in expressing through my work.”
