Chris Lael Larson
Chris Lael Larson blurs the lines between photography, painting, and installation. He got his start blending live experimental music and video, touring extensively across the U.S. before refocusing on visual art in 2021. His current work plays with spatial perception and relationships through layered perspectives and bold use of color. Chris has exhibited his work in Los Angeles, CA, New York, NY, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR, with notable exhibitions at the Portland Institute of Contemporary Art, Spring/Break in Los Angeles, and Field Projects in New York. Chris lives and works in Portland, Oregon.
“In the series Cascades, I merge painting, photography, and assemblage to create new perceptual experiences of the Cascade Head Preserve on the Oregon Coast. The images combine a Fauvist approach to color and a photographic rendering of depth and shadow with natural objects from the landscape.”
