Tammy Smith
Tammy’s background includes being an illustrator/designer at Hallmark Cards Inc. She also illustrated children’s books, as well as freelance editorial illustration and surface pattern design. Her clay sculptures have received Best in Show at the Plaza Art Fair in Kansas City and the New Orleans Jazz Fest Art Fair. She sells her one-of-a-kind sculptures in museum shops and galleries through her Small Ideas Studio.
Tammy’s animal ceramics are “inspired by the kitschy kitchen ceramics of the 50’s – the butter dishes, platters, vases, and spoon rests – that harken to a time when everything made of clay had happy faces and cutesy personalities. My animals, however, look a wee bit more wary, not unhappy exactly, but just reserving judgment for the time being.”
