Force of Nature
Force of Nature features nine women artists whose work pays homage to the beauty and power of the natural world. With an admiring nod towards the feminine and the glorious power of Mother Nature herself, the works include imaginative representations of nature in ceramic, painting, collage, textile, and unconventional takes on traditional processes.
Exhibiting artists include: Sophia Allison, Maija Fiebig, Johanna Goodman, Sarah Gordon, Holly Hudson, Niki Keenan, Christine Nguyen, Anne Austin Pearce, Morgan Rosskopf
About the artists:
Los Angeles-based Sophia Allison builds meticulously crafted spins on organic objects using hand cut paper and paper pulp formed from refuse.
Maija Fiebig paints dreamlike botanicals and imagined landscapes inspired by her profound appreciation for, and connection to, the natural world.
In her extensive Catalogue of Imaginary Beings, New York-based Johanna Goodman constructs fashionable and foxy avatars of self-empowerment.
The exquisite flora and fauna paintings of British-born Sarah Gordon contemporize traditional chinoiserie and botanical illustrations with vivid color combinations and playful orchestrations.
Holly Hudson modernizes an imagined mythological goddess through her ceramic serpent woman who slithers through nests of blooming flowers and delicate twigs.
Niki Keenan paints discoveries in nature that stir awe, capturing their pulsating energy through bold color and lively brushstrokes.
As if bathed in multicolored light displays cast through a glass prism, Christine Nguyen‘s joyful landscapes are mediations on a world in which physical and spiritual realms work in harmony.
Anne Austin Pearce explores human interconnectivity and the energy that dances around and between us through her vibrant ink abstractions on paper.
